This policy explains what personal information Dane Builds ("we", "us") collects through danebuilds.com and our services, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using our site or services, you agree to the practices described here.

Contact details you enter in our forms, such as your name, email address, and phone number
Usage data when you visit danebuilds.com or a preview we made for you, such as pages viewed, clicks, device and browser type, approximate location based on your IP address, and which preview link you opened
The website style you select and any notes you send us
Business content you provide after you become a client, such as text, photos, logos, brand colors, and domain details
Payment details, which are entered with our payment processor and not stored by us
Messages you send us by email or text

Information collected automatically:

Basic technical data such as IP address, browser type, device type, and pages visited, recorded in the logs of our hosting provider
The preview page you were viewing when you submitted a form

Information from public sources:

Publicly available business listing information, such as a business name, address, phone number, hours, website, and rating, used to prepare demo previews

How we use information

To respond to your requests and follow up about your website
To build, host, and maintain your website and to bill for our services
To prepare demo previews for businesses we think we can help
To send you emails about your project, your account, and our services
To keep our site and services secure and working properly
To meet legal obligations and enforce our terms
To understand how our website and previews are used, and to follow up with businesses that have viewed a preview

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Business information on demo previews

Demo previews are built using public business listing information. They are labeled as samples, they are not indexed by search engines, and they are not affiliated with or endorsed by the business shown unless that business becomes a client.

If your business appears in a preview and you want it removed, email dane@danebuilds.com and we will take it down.

Outreach emails

We may contact businesses using publicly available business contact details to offer our services. Every outreach message identifies us, includes our mailing address, and explains how to opt out. To stop receiving messages, reply to the email or write to dane@danebuilds.com, and we will honor your request promptly.

Who we share information with

We share information only with service providers that help us run our business, and only as needed for them to do their job:

Hosting and delivery of our site and client sites (Vercel)
Database storage for leads and client records (MongoDB Atlas)
Email delivery (Resend)
Image storage and delivery (Cloudinary)
Payment processing (Stripe)
Business listing data used to prepare previews (Google)
PostHog (website analytics)

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a sale or transfer of our business. We do not sell or rent your personal information.

Cookies and analytics

We use PostHog, an analytics service, on danebuilds.com and on preview pages. It uses cookies and browser local storage to recognize a returning visitor and to record pageviews and clicks. We do not use advertising cookies or sell this data.

You can limit this with your browser's privacy settings or a content blocker, or email us and we will exclude you. Some pages show an embedded Google Map. When it loads, Google may receive your IP address and device information and may set its own cookies, under Google's own privacy policy.

How long we keep information

Inquiries from people who do not become clients are deleted after 12 months
Client records are kept while you are a client and for a reasonable period afterward for billing, tax, and legal purposes
Content you provide for your website is removed from our systems after your service ends, subject to any handoff you request
You can ask us to delete your information sooner, as described below

Security

We use reputable providers and reasonable safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop contacting you, by emailing dane@danebuilds.com. We will respond within a reasonable time. We may need to verify your identity first, and we may keep information we are required by law to retain.

Websites we build for clients

Websites we build are operated by our clients, and each client is responsible for its own privacy practices and policy. This policy covers only our own site and services.

Children

Our services are for businesses and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed. Continued use of our site or services after a change means you accept the updated policy.
